Olivera Jokic Named Stitch Central Cougar of the Week

Olivera Jokic was chosen as the Columbus State University’s Stitch Central Cougars of the Week for the week ending on May 6.
Jokic and the rest of the Lady Cougar tennis squad battled its way through the Southeast Regional and booked a trip to the Round of 16 in Louisville, Kentucky. In the first round, CSU took down rival Georgia College 5-0. Jokic and her doubles partner Carlon Weikard recorded a victory at second doubles during the match taking down their foes 8-3.
In the regional final on Monday, Jokic had two of Columbus State’s five victories in the CSU 5-0 win over 10th ranked Francis Marion. In doubles action, Weikard and Jokic were in a battle early on falling behind 3-2. However, the duo turned it on winning the final six games to defeat Tereza Baranova and Julia Graf 8-3.
In singles action, Jokic won the clinching match 6-0, 6-1 over Kimberley Hurter at fourth singles.
Columbus State will be making its first Round of 16 appearance since 2006 and the fourth in program history. The Lady Cougars will face Lewis at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday May 16 in Louisville.
