Lady Cougar 4x100-Meter Relay Team Named Stitch Central Cougars of the Week

Asha Alexander, Shan Crawford, LaQuita Daniel and Zanquetta Smith were chosen as the Columbus State University’s Stitch Central Cougars of the Week for the week ending on May 27.
Alexander, Crawford, Daniel, Smith made up the Lady Cougar 4x100-meter relay team who finished in third place at last weekend’s NCAA Championships in Pueblo, Colorado. The quartet became the first relay team in CSU history to receive All-American recognition.
In the finals, the Lady Cougars ran a 45.42 which was right behind Adams State (44.96) and Lincoln (45.11). In the preliminary heat which took place on Thursday, the squad broke the school record blistering around the track in 45.17 seconds.
As a team, Columbus State finished in a tie for 20th place with 11 points at the NCAA Championships. It was the best finish in school history and shattered the previous best of 46th which they set last season.
Once again, congratulations to Asha Alexander, Shan Crawford, LaQuita Daniel and Zanquetta Smith this week’s Stitch Central Cougars of the Week.
This is also the last Cougar of the Week honor that will be given out in the 2011-2012 athletic year. The Columbus State Athletic Department wants to congratulate all of this year’s winners and all of the student-athletes here at CSU.
