Steve Peterson was chosen as Columbus State University’s Stitch Central Cougar of the Week for the week ending on December 11.

Peterson had his best week in a Cougar uniform as he averaged 21 points and 9.5 rebounds in two games for CSU. On Tuesday (12/6), Peterson and the Cougars made a furious second half comeback against Peach Belt Conference leader Montevallo, but fell just short as CSU dropped the game 64-58. The senior scored 15 points and brought down a team high eight rebounds. In the second half, Peterson scored 13 points going 4-for-6 from the field.

On Saturday (12/10), the Columbus native shined bright on his home court scoring a career high 27 points as Columbus State defeated West Alabama 78-66. Peterson went 6-for-9 from downtown. The six made three-pointers is the most by a Cougar this season. He also grabbed 11 rebounds for his first double-double of the season.

In the two games, Peterson shot 50 percent (14-for-28) from the floor and 57.1 percent (8-for-18) from beyond the arc. For the season, he is tied for ninth in the Peach Belt Conference in points per game (16.9) and ranks fifth in three-point field goal percentage (48.8).

This is the second consecutive week that Peterson has been honored as the Stitch Central Cougar of the Week.

Once again, congratulations to Steve Peterson, this week’s Stitch Central Cougar of the Week.
