Columbus State Well Represented on the Peach Belt Honor Roll

Augusta – The Peach Belt Conference has announced 68 student-athletes from Columbus State University have made the 2010-2011 Presidential Honor Roll. Overall, the 13-member league had 1,058 student-athletes who made the Honor Roll.

Thirteen of the 14 sports at CSU had at least one member of its squad who had a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Women’s Soccer led the way with 23 ladies making the honor roll. Baseball had the second highest total with 10 student-athletes making the mark.

The Columbus State Athletic Department strides for the excellence on and off the field which was  evident during the 2010-2011 academic year. CSU won the Commissioner’s Cup for the fourth time in six years.  It is awarded to the best overall athletic program in the Peach Belt Conference.

In the classroom, the Cougars had 12 student-athletes earn All-PBC Academic Teams honors and eight were named All-American scholars. The capstone was when Filip Cojbasic won the school’s first Elite 88 Award which is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average participating at the finals site for each of the NCAA's championships.

The honor roll has been divided into four groups: Presidential Scholars, Bronze Scholars, Silver Scholars and Gold Scholars. All student-athletes with a GPA from 3.0 to 3.24 are Presidential Scholars while Bronze Scholars are 3.25 to 3.49; Silver 3.50 to 3.74 and Gold Scholars are those with a 3.75 to 4.00.

Silver Scholars: Phillip Huckaby, Keely Kennedy, Garret Houghton, Sarah Rogers, Stephen Woodill, Laurel McKenzie, Emily Husted, Andy Henderson, Kim Gaughan, Tracy Castillo, Renata Paiva, Jackie Ellis, Brian Satterfield, C.J. Smith, Stephanie Parrish.
