Columbus – Columbus State University athletic director Jay Sparks announced the hiring of Cortney Laughlin as the Athletic Foundation Marketing Manager.
In her new position, Laughlin will have numerous duties including fundraising, season ticket sales and in-game promotions.
“Cortney Laughlin is what I call a 'lifer', commented Sparks. She is totally committed to Columbus State University and especially our athletic department. We couldn't have found a better person to represent what we stand for, nor a better person to sell what our future holds.”
“We hope that we can keep her for a long time. She is a difference maker in every definition of the word."
Laughlin, a Columbus native, has been working with the Columbus State Office of Recruitment since October 2008. After graduation, Laughlin became a graduate assistant in the Recruitment Office where she continued coordinating campus visits. Laughlin became the liaison for prospective students and Columbus State as she communicated regularly with high school seniors and their parents.
She also assisted the director of recruitment in the creation and implementation of a multifaceted communication plan for prospective students.
Laughlin was also a member of the Columbus State cheerleading squad where she was named an All-American and the CSU Cheerleader of the Year in 2009 and 2010. On the team level, Laughlin was apart of two small-coed national championship teams in 2008 and 2011. She was also named Columbus State’s Homecoming Queen in 2010.
Laughlin graduated Magna cum Laude from Columbus State with a Bachelors of Art in English with a concentration in Literature and Language. She received her Masters in Organizational Leadership with a concentration in Servant Leadership from CSU in July graduating Summa cum Laude.
