Mike Greene is entering his sixth year as Athletic Facilities Coordinator and his second year as head coach for the rifle program at Columbus State University. He is assisted by Sergeant Mike Moore of the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit at Fort Benning.
Coach Greene had an immediate impact on the program as Jonathan Hall won the 2010 Air Rifle Championship. Hall’s mark of 699.9 is the highest total in NCAA history, besting the previous mark by 3.5 points. The team went 5-1-1 during regular season competition and won the NCAA Sectionals in the air rifle and smallbore competition. As a result of the instant success of the team, Columbus State University was selected to host the 2011 NCAA Rifle Championship.
In addition to his duties as rifle coach, Greene is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Frank G. Lumpkin Jr. Center. He also handles the duties of marketing representative for the CSU Athletic Department.
An ordained minister, Greene has served at several churches in the Columbus area and is the team chaplain for the men’s and women's basketball team at CSU.
Greene and wife Marlece have two adult daughters and three grandchildren. They reside in the Dinglewood area of Columbus.
