Julio Llanos is entering his second year as Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine, Diversity and Inclusion and will also oversee the Compliance Department starting in the 2011-12 academic year.  In his previous six years to being named assistant athletic director, Llanos was the head athletic trainer for Columbus State University.

In his role, Llanos oversees all sports medicine related aspects for all 14 varsity sports, coordinates all hiring practices to make sure no one is excluded and everyone is fairly treated as well as ensuring fair treatment of student-athletes from minority and international backgrounds and ensures that the CSU athletic department and its respective student-athletes are in NCAA compliance with all rules and regulations related to NCAA Division II and Peach Belt Conference. 

The Columbus native has brought a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the athletic training department at CSU.  He has transformed the program into one which not only benefits Columbus State University and its student-athletes, but community high schools as well. Prior to CSU, Llanos served as the Head Athletic Trainer at Fort Valley State University from 2001 to 2004. 

Julio is a 1994 graduate of Carver High School in Columbus, GA, and he earned his undergraduate degree in Exercise Science from Columbus State University in 1999.  He attended Auburn University through the Kenny Howard Athletic Training Fellowship at the Hughston Clinic-Auburn and worked at Valley High School (1999-2001) as a graduate assistant athletic trainer. Llanos was also a summer athletic training intern for the Atlanta Falcons in 2000.  He obtained his Master’s of Public Administration from Columbus State in May 2010.

Julio is married to Zaire Ghislaine Llanos and they have two children, Liany Giselle (born March 2007) and Julio Cesar III (born December 2008).  They reside in Columbus where he enjoys the hobby of home improvement.
