Was a member of the Columbus College Athletic Board from 1970 until
1986 and Chairman of the Athletic Committee from 1975 until 1986
and for 10 years was a representative to the NCAA. He was the
Columbus College representative to the South Atlantic Conference
where he battled to keep this six team conference of Georgia
schools alive, being a key player in transition to present
conference membership. As a member of the Athletic Board, he was
instrumental in maintaining the Athletic Program during some very
lean years and has been described as a “true leader and
friend of the Athletic Program.”
