AUGUSTA, Ga. – Helping the Cougars to a perfect 4-0 week, Columbus State University baseball player Mike McClellan was named the Peach Belt Conference Player of the Week on Monday.

McClellan was a key part of the offensive barrage the Cougars showed off in a three-game series sweep of Georgia College and midweek win over Tuskegee. For the week, the Cougars tallied 58 runs, including 13 home runs.

The senior did plenty of the damage himself, hitting .444 (8-for-18) over the four games with four extra-base hits and 10 RBIs. McClellan launched a home run in each game of the weekend sweep, also picking up a double and scoring eight times.

McClellan has been red hot over the last 15 games, hitting a blistering .475 with five long balls and 24 driven in.

The McDonough, Ga. native ranks in the top 15 in the conference in runs, hits, home runs, RBIs, total bases, hit by pitch, batting average, on-base percentage and slugging percentage.

McClellan and the Cougars will be on the road on Tuesday at Stillman for a non-conference contest. First pitch from Tuscaloosa, Ala. is scheduled for 3 p.m.
