CSU Cheer Squads Earn Runners-Up Finishes at UCA National Championships

Lake Buena Vista, FL - The Columbus State University cheer squads once again represented CSU and the Columbus community very well at the Universal Cheer Association's Collegiate National Championships over the weekend. Both the Small Co-Ed and Co-Ed squads finished as national runners-up in the event.

The Small Co-Ed squad was looking to defend its 2008 title, but a strong performance from Northern Kentucky University unseated the Cougar squad. Snead State Community College (Alabama) was third. CSU has won three national titles in this division.

In the regular Co-Ed division, CSU found itself in a familiar spot. The squad had to watch as West Georgia performed well enough to win the national title again and push the Cougar squad to second place. The finish is the ninth consecutive top-three finish for CSU and the second consecutive runners-up spot. The squad was third in 2007. Slippery Rock University finished third.

The squads will return to Columbus tonight after spending time at Disney theme parks today.
