Telesford Named MVP of GABCA Showcase Game

COLUMBUS, Ga. (March 30) - - PBC All-Conference senior forward Chris Telesford was named “Most Valuable Player” in the 1st Annual Georgia Basketball Coaches Association (GABCA) Senior Showcase on Sat., March 27th at Oglethorpe University. Telesford scored 22 points and grabbed 13 rebounds in leading the “White” Jerseys to a 107-100 victory over the “Dark” Jerseys.

Telesford (6-5, 210#) dominated the boards in the first half in hauling down nine rebounds and adding five points to give the “White” squad a 51-47 halftime advantage. Telesford then jump-started his scoring with 17 second-half points (2-for-3 from the three-point arc) while snatching four more rebounds. He was also credited with two steals, one assist, and one blocked shot.

“This was a truly great experience and I appreciate the many college coaches in Georgia that thought highly enough of me to include me in the Senior Showcase,” said Telesford. “It was an honor to represent CSU and offer a game performance that was worthy of the respect I have for Columbus State basketball and my time as a Cougar.”

Fellow Cougar teammate Brandon Bland (6-3, 185#) was also instrumental in the “White” team’s victory as he added 11 points, 4 rebounds, one assist and one blocked shot.

Participants were selected from GABCA coaches’ nominations of “senior” class players that competed on NCAA II, NCAA III, or NAIA teams and excelled in their respective Conferences and divisions this season. In all, 22 players participated.

The Georgia Basketball Coaches Association (GABCA) is a growing, vibrant organization that’s primary mission is to promote small college basketball in the Peach state. There are presently 19 college and university member institutions and 39 member coaches working toward this goal.
