CSU's Gagnon Named to Peach Belt All-Academic Team
Columbus, Ga. -- Columbus State senior post player Nick Gagnon has been named to the 2010 Peach Belt Conference All-Academic Team for men's basketball. The team was announced on Friday (April 2).
Gagnon, from nearby Lanett, Ala., finished his second season at CSU in 2010 by playing in all 26 games and posting a 4.4 points-per-game average to go with 3.6 rebounds per contest. He boasts a 3.92 grade-point average and is majoring in sociology.
Gagnon's GPA was the highest among the six members of the 2010 All-Academic Team. He joins Ryan Aquino and Josh Hurst from GCSU, Kevin Kelley and Jacob Machoskay of Lander, and Casey McMasters of USC Aiken.
To be eligible for the All-Academic team, a student-athlete must 1) participate in at least half of his/her team’s events and be either a starter or significant contributor; 2) achieved at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) and 3) completed at least one full academic year at his or her current institution. The Peach Belt Conference Sports Information Directors oversee and select the teams.
