CSU Basketball to Host Free Coaches Clinic August 6-7

Columbus -- The men's and women's basketball programs at Columbus State University will host a free basketball coaching clinic for area coaches on August 6 and 7 at the Lumpkin Center on the CSU campus. The clinic features top-notch instruction from a number of collegiate and professional coaches. (Download Clinic Schedule)

Collegiate coaches participating will be Robbie Laing (Men's Heach Coach, Campbell University), Rusty Cram (Head Women's Coach, Georgia Southern), Audra Smith (Head Women's Coach, Alabama-Birmingham), Brad Hodge (Head Women's Coach, Birmingham Southern), and Lance White (Assistant Women's Coach, Florida State).  Former Toronto Raptors head coach and current New Jersey Nets assistant Sam Mitchell will also present a session, as will current CSU head coaches Jonathan Norton (women) and Robert Moore (men).

A special event on Friday will be a roundtable question and answer session called "Ask a Championship Coach."  This session will feature former Auburn women's coach and Hall of Fame inductee Joe Ciampi, former Virginia Commonwealth and Chattanooga men's coach Mack McCarthy, former CSU men's coach Herbert Greene, and former CSU women's coach and current Athletic Director Jay Sparks. This panel group represents over 2,000 wins in their combined careers and numerous championship teams. 

The local huddle of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes will provide a free dinner on Friday evening and CSU basketball will provide a free lunch on Saturday for all those attending.

Coaches are asked to call Norton at 706-331-6611 to give the number of coaches planning to attend for meal purposes. Information on hotel accommodations at a special CSU rate will be given upon request for those wishing to stay overnight.
