Columbus – Steve Peterson, Darius Mcknight and Jarmarquis Steverson all were honored by the Georgia Basketball Coaches Association as the organization announced their All-State selections. Peterson was named a first team selection by GABCA while Mcknight was a second team selection. Steverson was an honorable mention member to the team. 

Peterson and Mcknight become the first players in CSU history to be honored by the GABCA, which began handing out end of the season accolades in the 2007-2008 season.  

Peterson was a big reason why Columbus State reached the NCAA Tournament for the first time in six seasons this past year. Peterson averaged a team high 14.9 points per game and connected on 72 three-pointers, the most on the team and third most in the Peach Belt Conference. 

The Columbus native was just one of two players in the PBC to average at least 12 points and five rebounds a game as well as having at least 50 assists and steals this season.  For the year, he grabbed 5.5 rebounds a contest and tallied 56 assists and 52 steals. 

In the PBC Tournament, Peterson went to a new level averaging 19 points in the three games and sent CSU to their first championship game since 2005 by hitting the game-winning shot in double-overtime against USC Aiken. For his efforts, he was named to the All-Tournament team. 

Peterson was named to the Southeast District First Team by the National Association of Basketball Coaches earlier in the week. 

Mcknight had an outstanding senior season for the Cougars averaging 9.6 points per game and 7.7 rebounds per game. He led the PBC in offensive rebounds with 110 and blocks with 59. His block total was the fifth most in a single-season by a Cougar. He also ended his career with 124 rejections, the second most all-time at CSU. 

Like his teammate, Mcknight played his best game of his career in the PBC Tournament quarterfinal round against Lander. Mcknight scored a career high 25 points while bringing down 14 rebounds. He was named to the All-Tournament team averaging 15.7 points and 12.3 rebounds in the three games. 

Steverson finished the season third on the team in scoring averaging 10.4 points per game. He played his best game of his CSU career came against Clayton State as he scored 27 points going 10-for-18 from the field. Steverson was the first player since Brandon Bland in 2010 to make 10 or more field goals in a contest.
