Ries Cruises to PGA's Second Stage Q-School

Former Columbus State standout Christian Ries advanced to the PGA's second stage q-school with a runner-up showing at a first stage qualifying site (Cypresswood Golf Club in Spring, TX) last week. Ries, who won the NCAA Division II individual national championship in 2007, finished at 11-under par (69-71-70-67) and now heads to a second stage site at Callaway Gardens (Pine Mountain, GA) on November 18-21.
The finals, contested over 108 holes, will be held at Bear Lakes Country Club in West Palm Peach, FL, December 2-7. Only the low 25 scores and ties will earn PGA TOUR cards for 2010.
In addition to Ries, two members of last year's CSU men's golf team hope to advance to the second stage this week. Andrew Georgiou is currently playing in Lakeland, FL at the Grasslands Golf & Country Club and JP van der Walt is playing at the Lantana Golf Club in Lantana, TX. Both locations have the top 22 & ties advancing to the second stage.
