Top-Ranked AASU Blanks CSU Men 8-0 on Saturday

Columbus, Ga. -- Top-Ranked Armstrong Atlantic State, the two-time defending national champion, proved up to its billing on Saturday as the Pirates blanked Columbus State 8-0 in men's tennis action. It was the first Peach Belt Conference match of the year for CSU.

The marquee matchup of the day was at number one doubles the #8 team of Frank Suarez and Christophe Noblet squared off with the #4 team of Rafael Array and Mikk Irdoja. The AASU pair of Array/Irdoja prevailed 8-6 in a hotly-contested match. The Pirates took the other two doubles matches by identical 8-3 scores to hold a 3-0 lead after doubles play.

AASU was dominant in singles, winning all six matches in straight sets. CSU Olivier Simonet gave Eudaldo Bonet a very competitive match, but Bonet prevailed 7-5 in the second set to take the win.

CSU, now 4-3 on the year, hosts Flagler on Sunday in its second PBC match in as many days.
