A native of Cologne, Germany, Eva Huning enters her second year as an assistant coach with the Columbus State Tennis program.  She serves as the top assistant to head coach Evan Isaacs for both the men’s and women’s teams.

Huning helped guide the Lady Cougars to a 17-6 record including 11-1 record inside the Peach Belt Conference in 2011. CSU hosted the NCAA Regional for the first time in school history and finished 10th in the final Intercollegiate Tennis Association poll.  Huning and Isaacs also coached three All-American players in 2011.

Huning also played a role on the men’s squad as the Cougars went to the national semifinals for the second consecutive season.

A former Lady Cougar, Huning played one year for CSU in 2009 and had an outstanding season. She was ranked number five in the ITA poll and went 18-1 in singles and 17-6 in doubles play. Her honors in the 2009 season include: Southeast Senior Player of the Year, NCAA Division II All American, PBC All-Conference First Team in singles, and PBC All-Conference Second Team in doubles.

Prior to her season as a player for CSU women's tennis team, Huning spent three years as an assistant coach at the University of Louisville. As a player at Valdosta State University, she had three superb seasons and was a three-time All-American (2003-05). She also received the following awards: VSU Team MVP in 2003 & 2005, Arthur Ashe Sportsmanship and Leadership Award in 2005, and Female Student-Athlete Academic Award in 2005.

Huning currently holds a Bachelors of Administration Degree in Marketing from Valdosta State, as well as a Masters in Business Administration at CSU, completed in 2010.

The former Eva Petschnig married Toby Huning in 2011, a former collegiate tennis player, and they reside in Columbus.
