Columbus State Track and Field Participates in the Albany State Last Chance Qualifier

Albany, GA – In a last chance to reach NCAA provisional times, the Columbus State track and field teams participated in the Albany State Last Chance Qualifier Saturday afternoon hosted by Albany State University. The Cougars participated in six individual events while the 4x100 Women's team also competed in the event.

In the women's portion, Shelisia Crawford won both the 100-meter and the 200-meter dashes. She had a time of 11.89 seconds in the 100-meter while having a season best time of 23.55 seconds in the 200-meter. Crawford's 200-meter time is among the top five fastest times in the country this season. Asha Alexander also had a very productive day in both events that she competed in. In the 100-meter dash, Alexander had a season best time of 12.07 seconds and also hit the provisional time for the NCAA Championships. The freshman also had a season best time in the 200-meter dash crossing the line in 24.16 seconds which lowered her provisional time in the event. Brittney Skiles also came home as a winner for CSU as the senior won the 1500-meter run. Skiles finished the race in a time of 4:56 minutes.

Chatil Bradford was a double winner for Columbus State in the meet. In the shot put competition, Bradford tallied a distance of 12.6 meters. The freshman hurled the discus 41.68 meters in the discus competition as Bradford won the event. The 4x100 team of Keila Beverly, Shelisia Crawford, Asha Alexander and LaQuita Daniel won the event in 46.70 seconds which lower the quartet's provisional time.

Jeremy Williams was the lone Cougar to compete in the meet. Williams ran a season best time of 48.42 seconds in the 400-meter dash.  The sophomore also competed in the 200-meter dash  crossing the line in 21.36 seconds.

Columbus State will now play the waiting game to see how many individuals will be selected to participate in the 2011 NCAA Championships that will be held on May 26^th-28^th in Turlock, California.
