Koyiaki Named PBC Runner of the Week
Columbus, GA - Columbus State newcomer Meshack Koyiaki got off
to a great start in the 2009 cross-country season opener at Berry
College in Rome on Saturday. The sophomore breezed in ahead of the
field, winning the individual title by some 30 seconds over
teammate Nicholas Kering and leading CSU to a second place finish
in the 20-team meet.
Koyiaki was named PBC Runner of the Week on Monday for his weekend
performance in an announcement made by the league office in
Augusta. Koyiaki posted the top time so far for a PBC runner in
competition this fall with his 24:33 jaunt over the 8 K
course.
He came to CSU after competing one season at Chattahoochee Tech in
Marietta, where he earned All-America honors last year.
Koyiaki and
his teammates will be back in action on September 26 at the Mercer Invitational in Macon.
