CSU Men's, Women's Cross-Country Teams Recognized for Academic Achievement

Columbus, Ga. -- Just over a week after five Columbus State individuals were recognized for academic achievement by the U.S. Track and Field / Cross-Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), both the men's and women's teams have been recognized with All-Academic Team status by the organization.
To earn this distinction, a team must competed and registered a team score at the NCAA Regional meet and must compile an overall team grade-point average (GPA) of 3.00. Adams State, winners of both the men's and women's Division II national championships, was named as Division II Scholar Team of the Year for both men and women.
The CSU men posted a team GPA of 3.38 for the evaluation period. Stewart Helton, John Neill, Andy Henderson and David Marley were named to the individual All-Academic Team last week. CSU was one of three Peach Belt Conference teams to make the list.
For the women, the Cougar squad posted an overall GPA of 3.04. Individually, Naomi Tanui earned the honor from the USTFCCCA last week. CSU was one of five women's squads from the PBC on the list.
