Brittany Leverett Named PBC Player of the Week in Softball

Columbus, Ga. -- Columbus State senior shortstop Brittany Leverett has been named Peach Belt Conference Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday, February 28. The announcement came Tuesday afternoon from the league office in Augusta.

Leverett benefited from a move to the leadoff spot in four games over the weekend, hitting .500 (6-12) with six runs scored, three homers, and seven RBI. She had three multi-hit games in the two double headers and capped the weekend by smacking two homers, including a mercy-rule clinching grand-slam in the top of the fifth inning on Sunday against previously unbeaten Lincoln Memorial. She is now ranked ninth in the PBC in slugging percentage, third in on-base percentage and leads the PBC in walks.

Since Wednesday's scheduled PBC opener at UNC Pembroke has been postponed because of weather, CSU returns to action on Friday in Carrollton as they participate in the UWG Classic. CSU will play a total of five games over the weekend in the event.
