Leverett Named PBC Player of the Week

Columbus, Ga. -- Columbus State shortstop Brittany Leverett has been named Peach Belt Conference Player of the Week in softball for the week ending March 21. Leverett earns the award for the second time this season, having previously been tabbed on March 2.

Leverett had only six hits on the week as she hit .375, but all six were home runs. The senior had a 1.500 slugging percentage in six games for the Cougars with eight runs scored and 13 RBI.  She hit three home runs and drove in six in a doubleheader sweep of Albany State, then hit a homer in the first game at UNC Pembroke.  In the second game against Flagler, she drove in six of the team's seven runs, four coming off a grand slam and the other two on a two-run shot.  She drew four walks and had a .500 on-base percentage.

Leverett leads the PBC with 11 home runs, is fourth in slugging percentage and tied for eighth in RBIs.

CSU hosts Georgia Southwestern on Wednesday at  5 p.m. in a PBC double header at the CSU Softball Field.
