Keeley Kennedy Selected to PBC All-Academic Team
Augusta – Keeley Kennedy was selected to the 2011 Peach Belt Conference All-Academic softball team announced by the league office on Tuesday afternoon. The team is meant to recognize the outstanding accomplishments of PBC student-athletes in the classroom as well as on the field. This year's team is made up of 20 members.
Kennedy, a senior from Fortson, Georgia, was one of the main reasons why the Lady Cougar softball team rebounded for a 37-16 record. The senior played in 42 games this season and led the team with a .345 batting average. Kennedy was the main leadoff batter that coach Brad Huskisson used throughout the season as the senior had 10 stolen bases, drove in 10 RBIs and had an on-base percentage of .379. Kennedy had a GPA of 3.52 and she is a Physical Education major.
To be eligible for the All-Academic team, a student-athlete must 1) participate in at least half of his/her team's events and be either a starter or significant contributor; 2) achieved a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) and 3) completed at least one full academic year at his or her current institution. The Peach Belt Conference Sports Information Directors oversee and select the teams.
