Lady Cougar Golfers Finish Tied for Third in North Carolina; Anthony is Runner-Up

Raeford, NC - Columbus State's Kimesha Anthony shot a final-round 76 on Tuesday to finish at 151 for the tournament, good enough for second place individually in the Battle at the Bayonet event hosted by UNC Pembroke. Anthony's round helped CSU remain tied for third in the four-team field as Lenoir-Rhyne made a final round charge to forge the tie. South Carolina - Beaufort won the event by seven shots over host UNCP.
UNCP's Katja Dammann improved on a first-round 77 by shooting and even-par round of 72 on Tuesday to win medalist honors. She leap-frogged over Anthony and USCB's Adriana Saavedra to win by two shots. Saavedra, the co-leader with Anthony after Monday's opening round, shot 77 on Tuesday and finished third. Kaitlyn O'Sullivan of USCB was fourth at 155, while CSU's Heather Altiser finished tied for fifth with four others at 160. Altiser improved to a 78 on Tuesday to earn a top-five finish in her first collegiate event.
Alex Schluter shot 89 on Tuesday to finish tied for 18th at 173, while Ashley Garrett carded an 87 to finish tied for 20th at 177. Leslie Hatcher improved five shots to shoot 100 on Tuesday and finished 25th. 
Lenoir-Rhyne improved 25 shots on Tuesday, shooting a 318 team total after shooting 343 on Monday. Every player on the LRC team improved their scores by at least four shots. The round was second only to host UNCP's round of 315. USCB shot 319 and CSU 330.
CSU returns to action in a week, traveling back to North Carolina for the Lady Falcon Invitation on Monday and Tuesday in New London, NC. Related Item: Box Score
