Lady Linksters Struggle in Opening Round on Monday

New London, NC -  The Columbus State women's golf team struggled on Monday in the first round of the Lady Falcon/McNairy Invitational held at the Old North State Club (Par 72,  5922 yards).  CSU posted a 343 (+55) and is in 11th place in the 14-team field, hosted by Pfeiffer University.  Catawba College shot 310 (+22) and leads NAIA USC Beaufort (313) by three shots.  Carson-Newman's Sarah Jane Sinard is the clubhouse leader with a 1-under 71 and leads by a shot over Catawba's Kelsey Eabos (72).  The Old North State course is home to the annual Atlantic Coast Conference Men's Golf Championship held every April.  First Round Results
Kimesha Anthony led the CSU freshmen attack with a 79 (+7) and is tied for ninth individually.  Heather Altiser rebounded from a front nine 45 to post 85 (45-40) and is tied for 41st.  Alex Schluter finished strong over her last six holes to card an 88 (47-41) and is tied for 45th in the 71 player field.  Ashley Garrett shot 91 (44-47) and Samantha Hamilton, making her season debut, checked in at 102 (51-51).
Final round action is slated for tomorrow with a 10 AM shotgun start.
