Lady Cougar Linksters Sixth after First Round of West Georgia Invitational
Villa Rica, Ga. -- Columbus State's Kimesha Anthony carded a first-round 82 on Monday and sits in third position after one round of the West Georgia Invitational. CSU is in sixth position in the eight-team field after the first round.
Montevallo's Emily Gibson shot a first-round 74 and leads Harding's Whitney Olhausen by seven strokes and Anthony by eight shots in the individual standings. UM teammate Emma Breen is fourth at 83 and Mars Hill's Athena Smolka is fifth after a round of 84.
Heather Altiser is 23rd after shooting 94 in the first round, while Alex Schluter returned to the course after a bout with a back injury and shot 96 on Monday to tie for 26th position. Samantha Hamilton (103, 31st) and Leslie Hatcher (118, T38) rounded out the CSU team.
Montevallo leads the team standings after a 343 on Monday. The Falcons hold a 13 shot lead over Harding and lead by 15 over Northwood. West Georgia (362) is fourth and St. Francis (370) is fifth. CSU (6th) is followed by Mars Hill (398) and Young Harris (406).
The tournament concludes on Tuesday with an 18-hole final round.
