Flagler Leads After Day One of Inaugural Peach Belt Conference Women's Golf Tournament

Pine Mountain, Ga. -- Peach Belt Conference newcomer Flagler College fired an opening team round of 333 (+49) and leads the inaugural PBC Women's Golf Championship after one round. UNC Pembroke (335, +51) is two shots back, while Armstrong Atlantic State (338, +54) and Montevallo (339, +55) are also within six shots of the lead.

Host Columbus State, in its first year of women's golf competition, shot a 371 (+87) and sit in fifth place, while North Georgia (423, +139) rounds out the field.

Flagler's Kaitlyn Edwards and UNCP's Katja Dammann are tied for the individual lead after each getting around the Lake View Golf Course at Callaway Gardens Resort in 78 strokes. AASU's Kelly Pearce is third after carding a 79, while the Montevallo tandem of Emily Gibson and Emma Breen are in fourth (80) and tied for fifth (81), respectively. UNCP's Christina Crovetti is tied with Breen at 81.

CSU got a round of 83 (8th) from All-Conference performer Kimesha Anthony on Monday. Heather Altiser fired a round of 88, while Leslie Hatcher (99), Samantha Hamilton (101) and Alex Espana (107) rounded out the scoring.

The six-team field will get underway in Tuesday's final round at 8 a.m. with a first-ever PBC women's golf champion to be crowned after the final hole is complete.
