Two Columbus State Players Named to Daktronics Women's Soccer All-Southeast Region Teams

Columbus, Ga -- Columbus State's highly-decorated women's soccer program has produced two more All-Southeast Regional players in 2009. Senior forward Gina Goforth has been named to the first team and will be eligible for Daktronics NCAA Division II All-America selection. Senior Kelly Nimmo is goalkeeper for the second team.

Goforth, a four-year player and three-year starter from Fayetteville, led the team in goals this season with 13 and also contributed three assists for 29 total points. The 13 goals this season give her 48 in her career, good for fourth all-time in the Peach Belt Conference, and tops in a career in the short history of the CSU program. She has helped lead the Cougars to four consecutive Peach Belt Conference titles in her career, along with three consecutive PBC Tournament titles from 2006-2008. She is making her fourth trip to the NCAA postseason tournament with the 2009 team.

Nimmo, a native of Safety Harbor, Fla., patiently waited three years for her opportunity to start at the goalkeeper position and has made the most of it this season. She has posted a 16-2-2 record this season and has allowed just seven goals in the team's 21 games for a 0.44 goals-against average. She has made 56 saves, including a career-high 10 in last week's Southeast Regional win over Armstrong Atlantic State, for a 0.889 save percentage. She was tops in the nation for a large part of the season in goals-against average and earned All-Peach Belt Conference honors.
