CSU Women's Soccer Places Four Players on NSCAA Scholar Teams
The Lady Cougars of Columbus State University women's soccer are
known for excellence on the field, but they also shine in the
classroom. Four players have been selected to the National
Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Scholar All-American
and Scholar All-Region teams.
Junior defender Laurel McKenzie (3.30 GPA) is a Second Team pick
for both awards and is joined by junior midfielder Jill Walthall
(4.00 GPA) on the Second Team All-Region. Junior midfielder
Kate Walton (3.42 GPA) and senior forward Rachel Walthall (3.42
GPA) receive honorable mention status in the All-Region
category.
Among other criteria, NSCAA Scholar All-America nominees must have
carried at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average throughout
their career, started more than 50% of all games and been a
significant contributor to the team. The All-America
selections will be recognized at the annual All-America Luncheon in
Philadelphia on January 16 as part of the 2010 NSCAA
Convention.
