Columbus – Columbus State University head women's soccer coach Jay Entlich has announced the Lady Cougar's schedule for the spring season.
"The spring season is a great time to gain experience playing opponents we usually do not see. We try to schedule several Division I opponents to challenge our team. The spring is all about growing as individual players and as a team in preparation for the coming fall season," said Entlich.
The Lady Cougars will kick off the spring season with an alumni game on Saturday, March 19th, at 1:00 PM, at the John Walden Soccer Complex. The current CSU team will take on some of the former CSU greats that have built the Columbus State program into the national power it is today.
The following weekend, CSU will host a series of matches among CSU, Montevallo University, and the '94 and '95 Georgia Olympic Developmental Program (ODP) girls' teams starting at 12:30 PM with Montevallo versus '95 ODP. The Lady Cougars will play at 1:45 PM against '95 ODP and again at 4:15 PM against '94 ODP.
The first weekend in April, Columbus State will travel to Florida to play matches against two Division I opponents, Jacksonville University and the University of North Florida.
CSU will continue to play Division I opponents on April 9 traveling to Kennesaw State University to play matches against the Owls and Auburn University.
In a final bout of round robin play, the Lady Cougars are set to host the University of Auburn- Montgomery, Georgia College, Georgia Southern and Emory University in a series of matches at the John Walden Soccer Complex on Saturday, April 16th.
To finish the season, CSU will travel to Darton College for a match on Wednesday, April 20th.
The Lady Cougars season opener in the fall is set for Friday, September 2, against Southern Indiana in the Pioneer Invitational at Tusculum College. The home opener is scheduled for the following Friday, September 9 versus the University of North Carolina Pembroke in the Cougar Invitational.
