Kansas City, KS – Midfielder Stephanie Lowery and assistant coach Colin Barnes were both honored by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America at their annual awards banquet.  Lowery was named to the NSCAA Academic All-American Second Team while Barnes was chosen as the Southeast Region Assistant Coach of the Year.

Lowery has been one the best offensive players to come through Columbus State ranking in the top five in both goals (33, third) and points (81, fourth) all-time at CSU.  This season she once again led the team in scoring posting 29 points on 12 goals and five assists.  The Sandy, Utah native was a clutch performer tallying five game-winning goals including the game-winners in both the PBC and NCAA Tournament wins for the Lady Cougars.

Earlier during the awards season, Lowery was also recognized as a NSCAA and Daktronics All-American for the second straight year.

Barnes joined the coaching staff last January as he replaced Dan Muns who was named head coach of Coker College.  Barnes had an immediate impact on developing a very young team that lost eight starters from the previous season.  Despite the high turnover, Columbus State reached the NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Tournament for the six consecutive season boasting 16-4-3 record.  All four of their losses were by one goal.
