Columbus State Set to Host NCAA Women’s Tennis Regional

Indianapolis, IN – The Columbus State women's tennis team was given an at-large bid into the 2011 NCAA Division II Women's Tennis Championship and will serve as a preliminary round host. The Lady Cougars are the second seed in the Southeast Region and will host the Southeast Region #2 bracket while top seed Armstrong Atlantic State will play host in the Southeast Region #1 bracket.

CSU will face Peach Belt Conference foe and No. 7 Augusta State in the opening round on Monday, May 2 at 9:00 a.m. at the Mary V. Blackmon Tennis Center on the Columbus State campus.  The Lady Cougars faced off against ASU earlier in the year and easily won the match 6-0 including a sweep in doubles play.

No. 3 Clayton State and No. 6 Wingate will square off following the CSU/ASU matchup at 1:00 p.m.  The winners of those matches will then take on each other on Tuesday, May 3 at 1:00 p.m. at the Mary V. Blackmon tennis Center with the winner advancing to the NCAA Division II "Sweet 16" on May 11-14 at Sanlando Park in Altamonte Springs, FL.  

This is the 10th straight season for Columbus State to advance to the NCAA Tournament and advanced to the region final a year ago before bowing out.
